Hoosier Mama Pie Company makes delicious pies. When Dave and I got married they made the pies for our dessert table. One of my favorites is the Hoosier Sugar Cream, which is an Indiana regional recipe that Paula, the owner of Hoosier Mama, has brought to eager pie eaters in Chicago. All kinds of dessert tables have been created in the last few years as an alternative, or in addition to traditional wedding cake. People have feelings about pies, grandmother-related memories, and something homespun, and authentic about pie.
I collaborated with Hoosier Mama to marry some of their classics: double-crust apple, chocolate cream, Hoosier cream, with a variety of milk glass and pastel cake stands. At least a couple times a year someone asks me if the cake stands will work for pie? Yes! The pedestals are dessert-agnostic. And since most of the 100+ stands in the rental collection are 9" to 13", they are perfect for pie. On the day of the shoot, we found out that their 6" mini pies fit exactly into the vintage compotes. Enjoy!
